Project #4
Title and Client
Digital Transformation for Transportation Infrastructure Company Specializing in Toll Road Operation, Management, and Customer Service
Solution/Approach
Our team planned, designed, implemented, integrated, and certified a secure communication network infrastructure for the SR-91 CIP between the Riverside/Orange County line and the I-15 interchange in Riverside County.
The network infrastructure was comprised of redundant pair of core switches and Intrusion Detection/Prevention System (IDS/IPS) capable next generation firewall security appliances located at the customer’s Anaheim Data Center (ADC), nine (9) daisy-chained distribution/node switches that were divided into two (2) group of six (6) and three (3) switches, and fourteen (14) daisy-chained access switches that were divided into five (5) groups – one (1) group of two (2), and four (4) groups of three (3) switches. The distribution rings were multi-homed closed rings which started and looped back to the redundant pair of core switches in the customer’s Anaheim Data Center (ADC), whereas the access loops started and looped back to a predetermined distribution node pair.
The distribution/node and access switches were designed to provide secure bidirectional communication between the Electronic Toll and Traffic Management (ETTM) data and video Digital Field Elements (DFEs) and the servicing applications running on physical and virtual compute platforms residing in the customer’s Anaheim Data Center (ADC).
The deployed solution allowed secure bidirectional access to and from the public Internet and provided encrypted remote access to staff, partners and contractors via the redundant pair of Intrusion Detection/Prevention System (IDS/IPS) capable next generation firewall security appliances residing in the customer’s Anaheim Data Center (ADC).
